Passed away peacefully, surrounded by love at Creekway Village on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at the age of 95. Predeceased by her beloved husband of 68 years, Michael Szkitalinski (December, 2010). Loving Mom of Barbara Anders (the late Julian), the late Danuta Galante and Elizabeth Quinn (Eric). Proud Babcia of Monique Schaffler (Greg), Mark Anders (Christa), Allison McArthur (Dennis), Lexie Galante, Erica Quinn and Scott Quinn(fiancé Melissa). Loving Great-Babcia of Abbey and Chloe Schaffler, Noah and Sean McArthur and Charlee, Raegan and Avery Anders. Predeceased by her parents and four siblings in Poland. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews in Poland and Scotland. Maria will be fondly remembered for her love of animals especially her great-grand fur babies Cutter, Chewie and Snoopy. Her passion was cooking and baking. She enjoyed a good cup of tea, crossword puzzles, reading, gardening, and Broadway musicals. She was a loving and caring woman who will be greatly missed. Special thank you to Lakeshore Place, which Maria called home for four years, and to the staff and doctors at Joseph Brant Hospital and Creekway Village for their kindness, care and compassion. Visitation at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stoplight north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Wednesday from 5 -8p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, 196 Kenwood Avenue, Burlington on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at 12 noon. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Maria are asked to please consider the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Royal Botanical Gardens.
