During the 1970’s and 80’s, Kerry Galvin was my best friend. We met in 1972 when I was looking for a new Peugeot. He was the owner of Galvin Motors (the Mercedes Benz and Peugeot dealership) in St. Catharines. He was a tough gruff man of 31, who loved to “kibitz”, and I was a boy of 22. We bonded immediately. Five nights a week, we would play chess in the office of his dealership and then go to the Big Wheel where he would buy us steaks and beer till closing. I would buy the occasional Benz from him and he would take me on trips including France for a Peugeot Convention, and Provincetown, MA (Vince, if you know Provincetown and you know your Dad- you know that was a trip!). He was the most generous friend I have ever had. He introduced me to the girl who would become my first wife. (He warned me against it!) I was the best man at his second marriage. (I warned him against it!) After he moved to Burlington and I to Georgia, we grew apart. Except for one time at Christmas 2000, when I searched him out to ask his advice on someone. He said my God you loved her the day I met you and you obviously still do. You need to find her and you need to marry her. This time I took his advice. Kerry, I found out today that you were gone and I miss you not being here.
