Passed away at Hamilton General Hospital, on Saturday, December 2, 2017, in his 86th year. Beloved husband and best friend of Betty (nee Boocock) for 60 years. Loved father of Laura Lee Sandwell (Randy Steeves), Carol Sandwell-Lavergne (Paul) and B.J. Stengel (Mark). Cherished grandfather of Paige, Rachel, Kirsten and Ella. Dear brother of Vera Larman (Tom) and Donald Sandwell (Mary). Predeceased by his parents Violet Thrasher and Robert Sandwell and youngest brother Bill Sandwell. Gerry retired from Proctor and Gamble with 35 years of service. An avid curler for most of his life, he also enjoyed gardening, golfing, travelling and cheering for the Tiger Cats, Maple Leafs and Blue Jays. He was very involved in the lives of his children and grandchildren and always kept abreast of all of their activities. He will be dearly missed. Visitation at STONEHOUSE-WHITCOMB FUNERAL HOME, 11 Mountain Street, GRIMSBY (905-945-2755) on Tuesday, December 5, 2017, from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Service will take place at Trinity United Church, 100 Main Street West, Grimsby, on Wednesday, December 6, 2017, at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Queen's Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to McNally House Hospice or a charity of your choice would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
