Richard Alexander "Sam"  Cochrane
COCHRANE, Richard Alexander (Sam)

Passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the age of 83 on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at the West Lincoln Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his devoted wife and best friend of 61 years Gwendolyn (nee Smith). He was predeceased by his infant daughter Sharron Anne. Survived by his children, Linda (John), Ellen and Steven. His grandchildren, Alexander, Dylan (Demi), Cameron, Zachary, Samantha, Jamieson, Kayla and his eldest grandson Steven whom he unfortunately was not able to meet before his passing. He is also survived by his sister Theodora Garrick (late David), Calgary, Alberta. His Brother-In-Law Jack Smith (Pearl), his sister-in-law Betty Flaherty (Gerry) and Brother-in-law Bill Hanson (Cathy). Also survived by his numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Christina and Alexander, his sisters Mary and Eloise. He will be greatly missed by his best friends Les and Nellie Scearce, Mayne Island, British Columbia whom they spent years traveling with. Also remembered by close friend Marilyn Kiernan (late Tom) celebrating many great occasions together.
Richard worked for Westinghouse in Hamilton for 37 years in the Personnel and Payroll Department. After his retirement in 1989 he worked at his son-in-law and daughter’s greenhouses in Beamsville where he was very fortunate to spend precious time watching all of his grandchildren grow up.
We would like to thank all of dad’s PSW’s for their excellent care over the past 4 years especially Michelle whom was with him when he had his stroke. She was instrumental in getting help quickly and never left his side. We would also like to thank the many nurses, doctors and paramedics for the outstanding care that they gave dad after his stroke
Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333) on Saturday, November 4, 2017 from 12.00pm until the time of Service of Remembrance at 1:00 pm. Reception to follow. Donations would be greatly appreciated for the Dementia/Alzheimer Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or West Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
