Obituary for W. Stuart "Stu" Wilkinson

W. Stuart "Stu" Wilkinson
WILKINSON, William Stuart
In his own words “Wow! What a life, how could I have been so lucky? I exceeded every goal I had as a kid growing up in Newfoundland. I married a fantastic girl who gave me five fantastic children who gave me twelve fantastic grandchildren. Cornerbrook Newfoundland was a very special place to grow up.”
Following a final year of travel and visiting with his far flung family, he passed April 20, 2017 at the age of 83, peacefully in his own home. Born in Cornerbrook, NL on August 17, 1933, Stuart studied engineering in Halifax where he met and fell in love with Carroll Fraser at Hubbard's Beach. Moving to Ontario in 1958, Carroll and Stuart married in 1959. Loving father of Dale Kozlo (Ted), Greg, Jill (Edward Meijer), Drew (Tiffany Goodlet) and Marsh (Jodi Clarke). Cherished grandfather to Jana, Max, Melissa, Riley, Callie, Jeroen, Kendra, Noa, Bryn, Hannah, Reid and Jami and beloved brother to Ruth Kent and (great) uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Stuart owned and ran Plasticor/Signex, a local business which was sold after 40 years in 2009. He served with Rotary for many years with a particular interest in the international youth exchange program. Stuart and Carroll shared a love of skiing (Holimont), tennis (Appleby) and golf and bridge (Burlington Golf and CC). Stuart and Carroll also loved travel, especially to visit family and friends.
Private Cremation has taken place. Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Thursday, April 27, 2017 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Burlington Golf and Country Club, 422 North Shore Blvd E. on Friday June 9th, 2017 at 3 p.m. with reception to follow. For those who wish, donations in memory of Stu to the charity of your choice would be sincerely appreciated by the family. Online Condolences may be made at www.smithsfh.com
