Condolences

Condolence From: Lorraine Bulatovich
Condolence: I would like to pass on the Noreen and her wonderful family of the good memories that I and my family especially my son Michael, of all the wonderful times that we spent in their company. Tobogganing down through the wine orchards, Kinsmen and Kinette get-togethers with the never ending supply of wine, Allan first sleep over where I had to carry him upstairs and before his feet hit the floor, make sure his pajamas were down. Most of all experiencing what the true and sincere person Lloyd and Noreen were throughout their lives. Seeing a beautiful little red car in the driveway with a big red ribbon attached to the roof. Her birthday present from Lloyd. Her very own car. Wow. Noreen getting to ride with Princess Margaret when our bridge first opened. Having Elsie, your most beautiful Mother teach ME skiing she the young age of 65! We all felt so proud of her. For me to have this memory, is a big bonus.

Condolence: Dear Noreen, Allan, Karen, Brian and Schmidt family,
I am so sorry about the loss of Lloyd. What a wonderfully kind, loving and family oriented man he was. Although it has been far too long since I have seen you, your family remains very dear to my heart.
I have been thinking of you all this week and you are in my heart right at this moment when I know that the Celebration of Life for Lloyd will be taking place. It is a cold (for Comox, BC) day with snow on the ground, bright blue sky and a shining sun. A good day for hunting a Christmas tree, were it in December! I treasure the memories of years past, when our families would embark on our annual Christmas tree hunts, going over the 7th hill before finding the perfect tree. The warming fires and roasted wieners and marshmallows were always a treat to share with you. As was the after-tree-hunt supper at alternate households each year, where each family claimed bragging rights to having the best tree.

I also have warm memories of spending time with Lloyd when he was in Nova Scotia and ended up in the hospital in the Annapolis Valley. Although he was recovering from a serious medical issue, he kept us laughing and we shared many stories, jokes and memories together during his stay.

I wish you all to have peaceful hearts as you celebrate a truly beautiful man. He will be deeply missed.
Much love,
Sarah

Condolence: Noreen any family, it has been such a long time since we last saw each other. Know that I have thought of you often and have fond memories. One memory in particular is a very beautiful fall day picking grapes, I believe Riesling, in a vineyard somewhere in NOTL with Kassandra, George and Susan. On Saturday I will think of Lloyd while watching Grandson Steven Jr. sing the National Anthem to open the Bulldogs Game and will raise a toast to Lloyd when done.
Cheers to Lloyd for a job well done!!!

Condolence: Our heartfelt condolences to the Schmidt family, extended family and friends.

Dear Lloyd
You always had a warm smile, a good word and a welcoming disposition. We will cherish the many wine tastings, pig roasts, and good times at Rosomel Farm and Vineland Estates. Your wine and vine expertise was world renowned, and many sought your wise opinion. The only thing you did not do was turn water into wine, but now you are in the right company to master that too.

We will celebrate your life and raise a glass to a man "extra-ordinaire". May the legend continue!

Here's to you, Lloyd!!

Condolence: We send our deepest condolences to all the Schmidt family. Lloyd was at the weigh scales when we delivered our first load of grapes. He was such a gentleman and made us feel important even though it was a really sad load. He taught us a lot about blending wines at our wine club meetings and we always had such fun tasting wine with Lloyd and Roman at VEW. We will miss him but we still have his awesome sons making great wines ready to toast Lloyd. Cheers!

Condolence: To Noreen, Brian, Allan + The Entire "Schmidt Family" (including) The Team at Vineland Estates Winery !!!

It was with much sadness reading the sad news posted on my Twitter Feed, Monday morning ! I did not know Lloyd very well, but the little I did from my time working @VinelandEstates I enjoyed his company at the tasting bar after a long day in the vineyard, always with Roman at his side. If lucky, Brian too who was always equally kind towards me :D

I reside in Grimsby so on a few rare occasions, I would see Lloyd around town. I am not sure he remembered who I was, as was true during my cherished time on staff at VEW, he was always very kind and engaging towards me and always had a smile - A True Gentlemen !!!

I really enjoyed when Dad stopped by for a visit, passing through or for a relaxing visit at the tasting bar at the end of a long day. Having lived in BC for a period of time and our early discovery of wine through the introduction of great "older' Austrian Friends/Colleagues who loved wine - particularly German Styles. They were known to fly to the Okanagan in their Cessna, at times, taking us along for the beautiful journey during our early days of wine appreciation/discovery. Our go to destinations to stock up - ALWAYS Sumac Ridge & Gherringer Brothers !!!

I fondly remember sharing that story with Lloyd although it was a different time from when your family started that venture but it seemed to make him smile the same. Perhaps a big part as to why I came to enjoy seeing him at the winery or around town on occasion, I will miss that.

I was very saddened to read of his passing ! Sincerest Condolences to you ALL I know he is going to be sorely missed by many but none more then you - His Beautiful Family :D

Condolence: To Noreen, Allan, Brian, Karen, his grandchildren, extended family, colleagues and friends worldwide, my sincere condolences on the passing of Lloyd Schmidt. Privileged to call him a friend since shortly after his arrival in Ontario, introduced to him by the late Bob Claremont, I had the opportunity to spend a fair bit of time in his company, socially and in various local vineyards, and learned much about viticulture, wine, and, in many cases, life. Full of passion, and compassion, humor, vitality, and that famous sidelong 'eyes over the glasses' look, coupled with a wide grin, he gave his all to his family, his friends, and his work. I have seen the words Icon, Legend, and Visionary used to describe Lloyd, and surely all are with merit, but none are more important than Husband, Father, Grandfather, and, in mine and many other cases, Friend.
Rest Well, Lloyd Schmidt. It has been my pleasure to meet you.
