Wendy Leigh Wootton (Walker)
Wootton (Walker), Wendy Leigh

Passed away peacefully at the age of 60 surrounded by the love and laughter of her family after a heroic 18-year battle with cancer on Thursday, January 31st. Beloved wife of Kenneth David Garratt Wootton for 35 years; devoted mother to Garratt (Lauren), Kristin (Erik), and Brock. Precious grandmother (Coco) of Finleigh and Walker. Cherished daughter of (Late) James and Marcia Walker. Loving sister of Kim (Gary) Johnsen and James (Jayne) Walker. Dearest Aunt of Karen Wootton, (Late) Kim Wootton, Thomas Grant, Lachlan Grant, and Ryan Johnsen. In addition to her family, she had a loyal circle of close friends.

Wendy was born in Buffalo, New York and grew up in Eden, New York. She graduated from Eden Central School in 1976 and received her H.B.A. in German Studies from Brock University (1980), where she met Ken. She was employed by Marine Midland Bank in Buffalo, N.Y., prior to marrying and relocating to Canada. In addition to devoting her life to her children and grandchildren, she was an entrepreneur and served on the Board of Directors of the Nelson Youth Center. Wendy’s passion for travel took her around the globe, spending her last family trip hiking the Swiss Alps and visited her grandparents’ family farm. She was a devoted piano teacher and pursued her love for playing the harp. Wendy will always be remembered for her sense of style, hospitality and the undying love she had for her family and friends.
