Obituary for Robert John Brewer

Robert John Brewer
With great sadness we must inform family, friends, neighbours, and colleagues that on Sunday, December 30th, 2018, Bob’s dreadful battle with his rare degenerative brain disease, Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) was lost.
Bob will be sorely missed by his adored daughter Lindsay (Doug), his loving wife Karen, his stepsons Paul and Michael, his nephew Kenneth (Melissa) and his niece Heather (Danny). Bob has seven grandchildren: Kerri 22 (Tyler), and Kelsey 15, Gavin 10, and Elliot 8 in Ontario, and Avery 15, Landon and Abbi 13 in B.C. His beautiful great granddaughter Peyton was born in May in Ontario.
Bob is predeceased by his father Lester in 1980, his mother Blanche in 1996, and his only brother Calvin in 2010.
Bob went to Ryerson and took Business and Marketing. Upon graduation, Bob was immediately hired by Labatt’s Ontario Breweries, and worked for them for 35 years cultivating co-worker and client relationships which have lasted for years. He worked and played hard during his career at Labatt’s, and as a family, we drove to Florida many years to participate in Blue Jays Spring training.
Bob and his Dad build his cottage on Six Mile Lake in 1970. This is a place he dearly loved from that time forward, as do Karen, his children and grandchildren.
We sincerely wish to thank the kindness and compassion of the many people who contributed to Bob’s care: Marsha Wolowich, Joan Keenleyside, Dr. Barbara Clive, Dr. Joel Eisen, the team at Baycrest, the Burlington LHIN Palliative Care nurses, and the amazing PSW’s who became part of our family. Our wonderful neighbours who have provided so much support and thoughtfulness are truly and deeply appreciated. Our heartfelt gratitude is extended to all the wonderful caregivers and volunteers at Carpenter Hospice in Burlington, and Dr. J. Ang. You are all such special people in a truly amazing facility!
The family would appreciate donations in Bob’s memory to Credit Valley Hospital, Carpenter Hospice, or Baycrest Brain Health Centre in lieu of flowers.
A Celebration of Bob’s life will take place at Smith’s Funeral Home, Guelph Line Chapel, 1167 Guelph Line, Burlington. Visitation is from 12:00 to 1:00 on Friday, January 4, 2018 followed by a service at the same location. A reception will be held at The Judge and Jury, 1222 Walkers Line, Burlington.
We fought the good fight, my love!!
