Obituary for Jeanette Margaret MacPherson (Cunningham)

Born September 9, 1938 in Hamilton, Ontario, passed away peacefully at home on November 27, 2018 at the age of 80. Raised in Grimsby, Jeanette settled with her husband Gord on the escarpment for a quieter country life with their four children. Jeanette worked at Dofasco for 25 years before retiring in 2000. Always an avid reader, she joined a book club and attended author’s readings after she retired. She also played cards, golfed, and enjoyed plays and musical theatre with her many friends. Along with Gord, she became a traveller over the last 18 years, visiting South America, Europe and most recently making the long-desired trip to Scotland, where her father was born. Jeanette was an active member of Edgemount Chapter #127 Order of the Eastern Star, which she joined in 2002. Jeanette was blessed with a zest for life, a quick wit, and a large and loving family and circle of friends who will miss her dearly. She will be forever remembered by her devoted husband Gordon, children Tammy Foster (Ian), Gail DaRosa (Paul), Sandra MacPherson (Jeff Marder) and Michael, grandchildren Jacob, Gabriel, Ethan, and Hannah, and brother David Cunningham (Karen King). Visitation at STONEHOUSE-WHITCOMB FUNERAL HOME, 11 Mountain Street, GRIMSBY (905-945-2755) on Friday, November 30, 2018 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. with Eastern Star Service at 8:30 p.m. A Celebration of Jeanette`s Life will be held at the Funeral Home on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Stoney Creek. The family wish to thank Dr. Julie Timko and all the PSW’s and Nursing staff for their outstanding care and compassion for our mother at home. Jeanette canvassed for cancer for over 50 years. Memorial donations in memory of Jeanette can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of choice.
