Obituary for John Adam Gadzo

John Adam Gadzo
July 4, 1944 - November 10, 2018
An American born on the 4th of July in Buffalo, New York to parents Marion and Mary Gadzo. Raised on Riverdale Avenue, Town of Tonawanda. Older brother to Robert and sister, Marion. Our father’s love of fishing began on the Niagara River down the street from his home. John also spent a great deal of time at the Town’s Boys Club where he enjoyed woodworking. He received his first gun as a Christmas present when he was 16 years old, which started his passion for game hunting. Graduated with a degree in Applied Science, majoring in Electrical Technology in 1964. Shortly after, John was drafted into the Armed Forces. The day he was to board the plane to take him to Vietnam our father received a letter that his father passed away. He was immediately discharged to return home and take care of his family. Private John. A. Gadzo returned home, eventually met and married Hannelore Gadzo. John’s first job was at Westinghouse Inc. He worked full time during the day and attended full time studies at night to complete a University Degree - Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Most of his career was as Quality Manager in the automotive industry. However, most of you know John as a master fisherman, hunter, and owner of Gadabout Fishing Reel Service. He was a proud and active member of the Grimsby Legion and played a very active role in advocating for the 1st North Grimsby Scouting Group. Grandpa John’s favourite job was spending time with his grandchildren Quinn, Jack and Charlie, being a wonderful father to Michele Gadzo, Jennifer Gadzo (Staples) and son-in-law Daniel Staples, and loving husband to Hanna Gadzo. He will be honoured and missed forever, but will be with us in all that we do throughout our lives. To honour John’s life, a Tribute will be held at the Grimsby Legion, 233 Elizabeth St, Grimsby, on Saturday, December 1, 2018 from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Please share any photographic memories and stories about John directly on this website (www.smithsfh.com) or deliver to Grimsby Legion. These memories will be cherished by his children and grandchildren from years to come.
