Obituary for Stephen Michael MacKinnon

Stephen Michael MacKinnon
In God’s care, Stephen passed peacefully on September 29, 2018.
Growing up in Oak Ridges, Stephen was an excellent hockey player. Games in tournaments held all over York Region meant we were a real hockey family led by Mom and her determination to get him to games regardless of the winter driving conditions. Stephen earned MVP year after year, playing several different positions. He just loved hockey!
Another passion of his was golf. He started out caddying at courses in Stouffville and Richmond Hill as a way to earn free play time. He would play anywhere he could. His proudest golf moment was getting a hole-in-one on the 8th hole at the Orchard Beach Golf Club in Keswick.
Stephen loved tinkering with mechanical things, taking them apart and putting them back together. Nothing was safe when he was in the mood (cars, bicycles, snowmobiles, mini bikes)! He was a great handyman around the house and took pride in helping his Mom with things around her house over the past several years.
Although he led a difficult and challenging life, Stephen was still a giving man and would help friends and strangers out when needed. His friends, old and new, can attest to that.
Stephen is survived by his two children, Jaimie and Shane, adorable grandchildren Audrey and Rory, his loving Mother, Marjorie, sisters Cindy and Bonnie and several nephews and nieces.
You fought a hard battle, Stephen, but now you are free to rest and enjoy unlimited golf and hockey in Heaven.
