Obituary for Raymond Frederick Rines

Raymond Frederick  Rines
Passed peacefully with family at his side at Joseph Brant Hospital on Monday, September 24th, 2018, in his 88th year. He will be sadly missed by Joyce Rines (nee Alsop), his loving wife of 62 years. Ray was the proud father of Christopher (Joan) Rines of Dubai, U.A.E. and Trevor (Anne) Rines of Toronto. He was loving Grandpa to Jenna (Danesh) Rines, Alexandra Rines, and Malcolm Rines.

Ray was predeceased by his parents Amelia and Albert William Rines of Chichester, U.K. He was also predeceased by his siblings Edna (Jim) Hutchings, Lesley (Emmie) Rines, and Stanley (Jean) Rines in the U.K. Ray was also brother-in-law to Audrey (Kaarlo) Mustonen of Stouffville, and predeceased by Fred (Georgie) Alsop and Dru (John) Macko.

Ray will be sadly missed by his nieces and nephews in the U.K.: Tim (Jenny) Rines, Sylvia (Robert) Norton, Alan Rines, Peter (Maggie) Hutchings, Nick (Jane) Rines, and Stephen (Debbie) Rines. He will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews in Canada.

Ray proudly worked in Administration at Christie’s Lakeshore Facility in Toronto for 33 years, and was retired for 31 years. He loved to read, garden, spend time with his family, and go for walks in La Salle Park with Joy.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and nurses, and all the staff who helped at Joseph Brant Hospital, Burlington.

Visitation will be held at Smith’s Funeral Home, (1167 Guelph Line), Burlington on Thursday, September 27th from 6-8 pm, and Friday September 28th from 12-1 pm. Funeral service will also be held at Smith’s Funeral Home on Friday September 28th from 1-2 pm with reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Parkinson Canada, The Alzheimer’s Society, or Joseph Brant Hospital, Burlington.
