Predeceased by her husband Albert in 1995. Loving mother of Claudine (Ian), Basil (Patricia), Marilyn, Vernon (Wendy), Catherine, Gabrielle (Joel) and Annabelle (Rocco). Cherished Nana to Cheryl (Mike), Angela (Anthony), Joshua (Alison), David (Katie), Alexandra (Dylan), Adam (Maui), Victoria, Jordanna, Lauren, Navin, and Olivia. Great Nana to Saphira, Tyven, Matty, Toby, Declan and Noah who all put big smiles on her face. Survived by her brothers Ray (Phil) and Ed (Daphne) Athaide. Predeceased by her parents Mary and Henry Athaide.

Winnie was a Catholic elementary school teacher finishing her career at St. John's school. Her faith was a very important part of her life and she enjoyed attending daily mass, volunteering to train the First Holy Communion classes, extra-ordinary eucharistic minister who also visited the hospital and nursing home, R.C.I.A and C.W.L. Winnie and Albert opened their hearts and home to many nieces and nephews to facilitate their immigration to Canada and extended hospitality to all.

A life well lived. Winnie is now enjoying her Heavenly reward. Dearly missed by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Rest in Peace.

Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333) on Thursday, September 6 from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church (2265 Headon Road, Burlington) on Friday, September 7 at 10 a.m. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. For those who wish memorial donations to a charity of your choice would be sincerely appreciated by the family.

The family would like to thank the staff and residents of Appleby Neighborhood at the Village of Tansley Woods LTC for their love, care and friendship of Winnie over the last 11 years.
