Obituary for Francesco "Fioravante" Graziani

It is with great sadness that we announce Francesco's sudden passing at Hamilton General Hospital, on Friday, August 10, 2018, in his 89th year. Beloved husband of Lucia (nee Silvestri). Loved father and father-in-law of Nanni and Edy Graziani, Joseph Graziani and Patty and Maurizio Garofalo. Cherished grandfather of Julia, Alicia, Michaila and Chiara Graziani and Vienna and Gabriel Garofalo. Dear brother of Saino Graziani (Ada) and brother-in-law of Joe Silvestri (Gisele), Connie Romano (Joe) and Maria Iulianella (late Enrico). Survived by many nieces and nephews in Canada and Italy. Predeceased by many brothers and sisters. Francesco was a member of the Alpini Special Forces in Italy. He immigrated to Canada from Abruzzo, Italy in 1954 with a suitcase in his hand and a dream for a better life in his heart. With Lucia, his loving wife of sixty years they overcame obstacles faced by immigrants at the time and sacrificed much to raise a family of three, successful children. Francesco was a hard worker, who believed in education above all in order to succeed, instilling this value into his children and grandchildren. He was a retired 36 year employee of Stelco. Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 454 Highway #8 (east of Millen Road) STONEY CREEK (905-664-4222) on Tuesday, August 14, 2018, from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Prayer Vigil Tuesday at 8:40 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church, 304 Highway #8, Stoney Creek, on Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at 10 a.m. Entombment to follow at Our Lady of the Angels Cemetery. If desired, memorial contributions to the Arthritis Society would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
