Obituary for Duane Harold Baltzer

Baltzer, Duane Harold

Passed away at Joseph Brant Hospital, on Thursday, July 19, 2018, at the age of 86. Beloved husband of Eleanor Cecelia for 65 years. Loving father to Elizabeth Baltzer, Rick (Barbara) Baltzer, Patricia (Edwin) van der Wolf, and Judith Baltzer (Guy Granka). Cherished grandfather of Adam, Shannon, Nicole and Carole. Great grandfather to Devin. Duane will be missed by his siblings in the Maritimes; Fred (Elaine), Shirley (The late Lawrence) Earley, and Helena (Eugene) Cole. Predeceased by his parents, Harold and Mabel, sister Betty (Noel), and his favourite dogs Alvin and Billy. Duane will be fondly remembered and missed by friends, family, and relatives from afar.

Duane was born and raised in Nova Scotia on his family's farm. Duane moved to Burlington in the early 1950's, where he obtained employment at J. Cooke Concrete Blocks for twenty-seven years. He then obtained employment at Barton Tubes (Bull Moose) until he retired. Duane also operated a cleaning service for many years, servicing the local businesses. He was a talented machinist and millwright in his day.

Special thanks to those who cared for him in his final days.

A Celebration of Life will be held at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 from 5 - 8 p.m. Interment Burlington Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, donations to the Burlington Humane Society would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
