MacDonald, Deborah Ann (nee Hume)

Sadly passed away at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton on June 14, 2018, at the age of 66 after a courageous battle with renal failure and ovarian cancer. Beloved wife of the late Robert John MacDonald (2014).
Loving and cherished mother of Blair Michael MacDonald (JP Oliveria). Predeceased by her father William Richard Hume, her brother Michael and her sister Camilla. Beloved daughter of Patricia Hume. Debbie will be forever missed by her siblings Christine Hume (Ahmed Ghobarah), Tracey McGrath (Bert), Michele Browne (William) and David Hume (Sherry). Also her dear sister-in-law Mary MacDonald LaPrade (Wayne). Cousins Peter Seville and Ann Le Masurier.
Deb had a special place in her heart for all her nieces and nephews, Christopher (Julia), Michael, Steven, Adam (Andrea), Aaron, Samantha and Rachel. Rachel most recently donated her hair for cancer patients in honour of Deb.
Deb had a long outstanding career as an elementary school teacher with Halton Catholic School Board.
During her time there she coached endless volleyball and basketball games, and track-and-field events, almost anything to do with a sport she was there and always prepared to use her first aid skills.
Deb was a pivotal organizer with the DARE Program in Halton and was renowned for her arts-and-craft skills that were adored by her students.
Deb was an amazing golfer, ski patroller, and tennis player. She was fortunate enough to score a "hole-in-one" in her golfing career and her most recent "eagle" last fall .
Numerous caring friendships were forged throughout those years of sports and education that continue until today.
Special mention to Dr. Hirte, her oncologist, for enrolling Deb into an immunotherapy clinical trial study. Deb was the courageous first participant to enter this trial with a rare form of ovarian cancer. Numerous other women were admitted to similar trials because of Deb's involvement.
She undoubtedly had an extra year of good health because of the immunotherapy, in which she scored that "eagle" while golfing with her sisters .
Deb's spirit, vitality and insurmountable courage will remain in our hearts always and forever.

Private family services have taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. For those who wish, donations in memory of Debbie to Carpenter Hospice or the Joseph Brant Hospital Foundation- Cancer Clinic would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
