Obituary for Marjorie Elinor Chatland (Nickel)

Marjorie Elinor Chatland (Nickel)
Passed away the evening of Monday June 4th 2018 at Pearl & Pine Retirement Home in Burlington, ON. Born May 13, 1929 outside of Bancroft, ON to the late Helen Elizabeth and the late Frederick Bailey Nickle. Marjorie grew up there with her siblings. Predeceased by her brothers Donald and Keith and sister Enid. She moved to Vancouver, B.C. in 1952 and worked for Canadian Pacific Railway until 1954 when she relocated to Toronto ON. There she took a job with Ontario Hydro where she had a successful career for the next 32 years. It was at Hydro where she met her one true love Albert E. Chatland (2010) and they celebrated a beautiful and happy marriage for 39 years.

Marjorie was a loving and cherished friend and step-mom to Barbara and husband Jack Sibbald and Michael Chatland (2010) and his wife Maureen. She will also be fondly remembered by Michael’s children Jason (Christine), Deborah (Chris), Chris (Roxanne) and their children.

She will be greatly missed by her granddaughter Susan and husband Paul Coates, and her great grandson's Jackson and Carson. They were her pride and joy. Marjorie is also predeceased by her grandson Sean Sibbald (2003) with whom she shared much love and admiration.

Marjorie had many wonderful family and friends in her life who will miss her including her dear friends Barry and Karen, neighbours Don and Chris, her nephew Richard his wife Ruby and their family, her great-niece Stephanie (Thomas and Louie) and Dorothy and Marion who were part of her tight knit group of girlfriends in the condo that she shared countless good times and laughter with.

Heartfelt and very special thanks to Colin & Suzanne Cooper and Debbie & Norman Yarwood for their friendship and care, ongoing support and endless help. We couldn't have done anything without you. They were true friends and advocates of Marjorie and very precious to her.

We would also like to thank the staff and nurses at Pearl and Pine, Mary-Ann K., Jane from Neat Spaces, the coordinators and caregivers from LHIN and her team of doctors. Were it not for all of you she could not have been as comfortable, content and well cared for in her final months.

May you spend eternity happily reunited with Alb. All our love, your family and friends.

Per her wishes Marjorie has been cremated and Internment is at the Grove Cemetery in Dundas, ON in a private ceremony. A Celebration of Life for family and friends will take place at a later date. Charity donations in her memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, or one of the local women’s shelters: Mary’s Place in Hamilton or Halton Women’s Place in Burlington.
