Obituary for Kazmer "Sam" Kasperski

Kazmer "Sam" Kasperski
It is with great sadness that we announce Sam’s sudden passing at home on Sunday, June 3, 2018, at the age of 73. He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 51 years, Janet (nee Dawson). Sam is the cherished father of Ryan, Julie, Laurie and Gary and proud grandfather of Jack and Lucas. Dear brother of Ray, Richard (Francis) and Irene Kelly (John). Sam was a quiet man with a very big heart and will be sadly missed by his many extended family members and friends.

Sam began working at Dofasco as a teenager to pay for his university education at McMaster University. With a brain like Einstein’s, he exceled in everything he did but always remained proud to call himself a “steel worker”. Sam took early retirement at 48 and had many arenas to choose from in his second career, such as consulting or teaching or he could have simply spent time on the golf course, watching his beloved Ticats and enjoying time with his family. Instead, he chose to work at CIBC Wood Gundy where he had the honour of serving many of Dofasco’s retirees and their spouses. He rejoiced in being surrounded by respected colleagues and trusted friends.

Visitation at SMITH’S Funeral Home, 485 Brant Street (one block north of City Hall). Burlington (905-632-3333) on Wednesday and Thursday from 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service to be held at Smith’s Funeral Home on Friday, June 9, 2018 at 10:30, followed by a reception at the Burlington Golf and Country Club, 422 North Shore Blvd., East, Burlington. As an expression of sympathy donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, YMCA Strong Kids Campaign or Sick Kids Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
