Obituary for Janet Matheson Davis (Lee)

Passed away suddenly at St. Joseph's Hospital, on Monday, May 28, 2018, in her 82nd year. Beloved wife of Richard Davis for 56 years. Loved mother of Lee Davis (Tony Kutlesa) and Michelle Davis (Danny Talic). Cherished grandmother of Abigail and Harris. Dear sister of Mary Frances Tulk (Les), Alison Schreiber (Clare) and the late Catherine Naylor. She will also be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Janet was proud of her heritage and history, being a descendant of the Lee Family - the founders of the Women's Institute and her family home - the Erland Lee Homestead. She lived a very active life and loved sports from the beginning - being one of the first graduating women from the Phys Ed program at McMaster and later teaching Phys Ed. She was active volunteering with West Lincoln Memorial Auxiliary for over 25 years, playing baseball until she was 72, skiing, curling and hiking the Bruce Trail end to end twice. She was able to travel the world but most enjoyed her time with her family passing on her love of sports, the outdoors and attending their many activities. Cremation has taken place. A memorial gathering will take place at STONEHOUSE-WHITCOMB FUNERAL HOME, 11 Mountain Street, GRIMSBY (905-945-2755) on Sunday, June 3, 2018, from 3-9 p.m. If desired, memorial contributions to the Bruce Trail Conservancy or West Lincoln Memorial Auxiliary would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
