I apologize for leaving this so late, but I just this moment learned of Mr Spearin's passing from a posting on the SWC Facebook page. My condolences to Mr. Spearin's family. The world lost a real gentleman and a caring educator. Mr. Spearin took the time with me and my fellow Valedictorian, to help us compose our Address to the graduating class of 1983. He was never my teacher, but I count myself fortunate to have been able to spend some time with him where he freely gave his time, experience, thoughts, and assistance to two soon to be graduates who had no idea about what a Valedictorian speech should look like. We discussed quotes from Churchill himself, and he guided us, yet also allowed us the freedom to add our own humour, and experiences to the Address. Your family knows how fortunate they were to have had this kind, gentle man in your lives. He will be missed. Moi Vienneau, Class of 1982-1983
