Obituary for Grant Nichols

NICHOLS, Murray Grant
(1931-2018)

Grant passed away peacefully in the arms of his beloved wife, Janice, on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Joseph Brant Hospital in his 87th year. Grant was a loving father to his daughters Kim (Steve) and Gail and to son Scott (Susan). Grant will be missed by grandchildren Nichole (Brock), Collin (Mariam), Cayleigh (Paul), Paige (Nick) and Brooke and great-grandchildren Kyra, Aiden, Liam and Everley. He will also be fondly missed by Jan’s children Courtland, Emma-Lee and Lane. Grant was predeceased by his wife Eleanor (2005) and sister Lucille (2014). Prior to his retirement in 1993, Grant was Vice President of Finance and Administration at National Steel Car Limited. He was an accomplished sailor and spent many years sailing in the Hamilton Harbour. In recent years, Jan and Grant had a power boat on Georgian Bay and then moved on to cruise ships and the beach in Southwest Florida, with many happy times, chasing the sun. Grant was the most honourable gentleman that anyone could or would have the privilege to meet. He will be truly missed. As per Grant’s wishes, no funeral will be held. Cremation has taken place. To celebrate Grant’s exceptional life, family and friends are invited to a memorial gathering at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 485 Brant Street (one block North of City Hall), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Thursday, May 31, 2018 from 3-5p.m.
Sailor, sail away with me, the best is yet to be!
Love, Slim
