Obituary for Tim Catterall

Catterall, Tim –

After a courageous and defiant battle with cancer, Tim passed away peacefully at the age of 62, in the arms of his wife and holding the hands of his children. He showed unconditional love for his family and was a pillar of strength and resilience; adored by his wife of 32 years, Lucie and his children, Chelsey (Jason) and Joel (Alexandra). He is the cherished brother of Randy “John” (Mary) and Bonnie, predeceased by his parents John and Stella, treasured son-in-law to Roger and Louise, and brother-in-law to Alain (Tina). A passionate firefighter for over 30 years, Tim took pride in his duty to protect the community. In 2008, Tim founded F.A.C.E. (Firefighters Against Cancers’ Existence), a not-for-profit charity whose mission was to raise awareness for the cancers affecting firefighters and the support of cancer research. His lasting legacy will be his passionate advocacy with F.A.C.E., his pride in his brothers and sisters of the Burlington Fire Department and the tremendous love he had for his family and friends. Tim will live on in our memories and will forever be in our hearts.

Our family wishes to extend our gratitude to Dr. Messner, Dr. Lipton and the staff of Princess Margaret Hospital for giving us more precious time. For those who wish, please donate to PMH in Tim’s honour.

Visitation will be at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Wednesday from 3 - 5 and 7 - 9pm. A Funeral Service will be held at Wellington Square United Church (2121 Caroline Street, Burlington) on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at 11am.
