Obituary for Dennis Anthony Midgley

Dennis Anthony Midgley
With deep and heavy sadness Dennis Anthony Midgley, 87, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully on Sunday, May 13, 2018 at Joseph Brant Hospital surrounded by family.

Dennis is survived by his wife Marina of 63 years, daughters Sharon Midgley (Peter Bauer), Wendy (Steven) Ackerman, Anita (Charlie) Cook, son Keith and grandchildren Kevin and Julia Bauer, Ethan and Mason Ackerman and Taylor Cook. Dennis was an extremely caring and loving husband, father, and grandfather.

He is also survived by his sister Brenda Wright, his very dear lifelong friend Marion Stone, and many family and friends in England.

Dennis was born in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England in 1931. He married his wife Marina in 1954, and they immigrated to Canada in 1957. He lived a full life and had many interests and hobbies. Dennis loved to travel and had many road trips throughout Canada and the U.S. He returned to visit England many times throughout the years. He loved to read and had a great interest in history and news. Dennis was a plumber by trade (a lifetime proud member of Local 67 Hamilton). He was a real handyman and was always there to lend a helping hand, always taking great pride in everything he did.

Dear Dennis, Dad and Grandad: We can’t think of a better way for you to leave this world after having had your favourite fish and chip dinner at The Thistle, and watching some of your TV shows. Thank you for waiting until Wendy and Mason arrived. You will be dearly missed. You will always be in our hearts and thoughts. We are so blessed that you were in our lives. We will forever love you.

A private family service will be held at Smith’s Funeral Home.
