ELLIOTT, James Cecil "Jim" (1936-2018)

Surrounded by his family, Jim Elliott passed away at Joseph Brant Hospital, Burlington, on Saturday April 21, 2018, in his 82nd year after a valiant struggle with heart disease. Devoted husband of Axie Elliott (nee Ferguson) for 33 years and loving step father to Rob Johnston, Rhonda Patterson (Pete), Gerry Johnston (Elaine), and Cara Siska (Mark). Cherished Papa Jim to his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survived by brother Clifford Elliott (Maxine), sisters Shirley Trueman (Jack) and Dorothy Konings, and by several nephews, nieces and cousins. Predeceased by his brother Kenneth and brother-in-law Jim Konings. He is also fondly remembered by his many life long friends especially Murray McCracken (Carol), Jack Mason (Marion), Lloyd McConachie (Bernice), and Barry Reed (Beverley) Jim enjoyed a long career at Maple Leaf Meats in Burlington, where he met and remained great friends with Billy Lowe (Eunice). Jim will be missed by many within his church community at West Plains United Church as well as the Beach Community he resided in. He will be remembered as an avid sports lover and trivia expert. His compassion, loyalty and loving care for Axie, “the love of his life” was an inspiration to all who witnessed it. Visitation will take place at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line, BURL. (905-632-3333), on Friday, April 27, 2018 from 5-8pm. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, April 28th 2018 at 11:00am at West Plains United Church, 549 Plains Road West, Burlington. Followed by light refreshments and then Interment at Burlington Memorial Gardens Cemetery. All are welcome. For those who wish, donations in memory of Jim may be made to a charity of your choice.
