Condolence From: Shawn Hannaford
Condolence: Surfing Facebook I came across this sad news. Mike and I went to grade school together and played football with the Burlington Stampeders. He was one tough guy and I was happy to be his friend back in the day. To the whole Piil family, sorry for your loss.

Condolence: I was stunned when I saw Mike's name in The Coupler's "In Memoriam" e-mail. Mike and I worked together for several years and he was one of the good ones. He defended his staff tenaciously and had great B.S. detectors, which served him well at the TTC. He took no guff and did not suffer fools gladly. However, behind his brusque manner, and salty tongue, he was a real pussycat with an elfin grin that left one wondering what is he thinking. My heartfelt condolences and sympathy to Mike's wife and children.
