Theodorus Hendrikus "Ted"  Verlaan
Surrounded by his family, on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at the age of 87, Dad passed away at Tansley Woods LTC after a brief illness. Predeceased by his parents Simon and Karolien, his first wife Johanna (Joyce), sister Tini (Dop) and brother Simon (Rennie). Cherished brother of Koos (Ans) and Hans (Katja). Loving father of Margaret (Andy), Nora, Ron (Brenda) and Ingeborg (Tim). Proud Opa of Alyshia (Louie), Teddy (David), Stephanie (Rino), Craig (Desiree), Johanna (Jonathan), Danielle (Phil), Jenilee (Devon), Christopher (Maddi), Shelby and Kylie (Diego). Ted is also survived by his wife Sheila. He will be greatly missed by his many family and friends here and in Holland. Dad worked as a professional engineer at Dofasco for 24 years before retiring in 1991. He will be remembered for his ability to socialize with anyone, his sense of humour, and his love for his family. Special thank you to the staff of Tansley Woods, Dad’s home for the past 3 years...they became extended family. Visitation at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stoplight north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Thursday from 3-5 and 7-9p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Friday, April 6, 2018 at 1p.m. Cremation to follow. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Ted are asked to please consider the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
