Memories

Riding roller coasters with us when we were kid. Summers spent at the cottage. A trip to Marineland. Christmas! Going to Grama's for 2 weeks in the summer, coming home 10lbs heavier and being too big for our new school clothes - she sure loved to feed us! She made the meanest pork roast which she taught me how to spice just right with salt, pepper, garlic salt and crisp up the top layer of fat. Her scalloped potatoe recipe which I use all the time and is always a big hit. Her strawberry freezer jam. Her bacon and egg breakfasts with pumpernickel toast and strawberry freezer jam . The snack cupboard in her apartment - always full of goodies. Her love of a can of coke. Her cherry cheesecake - it was the best! Her love of Ikea hotdogs. Her expressions like: I am sweating like a frog pulling a log. As an adult talking to her about when she was a kid growing up on the farm and stories of Norwood. Stories about my Dad as a child and Umpa and Nana. Her stories about being a Bell operator. How she could drink butter milk like water - how she disliked regular milk. Her sense of humour. Her generosity. Her faith and love of God. How much she loved my kids Emily and Andrew (great grandchildren) and they loved her. How she called me Dolly. How much I loved her. How much she loved us all. How she will be sorrowfully missed.
