Obituary for John Miso

John Miso
MISO, John

Passed away at the Brant Centre on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at the age of 87. Beloved husband of the late Evelyn Miso. Loving father of Daniel Miso (Jean), the late Julie MacLeod (Robin), Perry Miso and the late Thomas Miso. Dear grandfather of Emerson, Austin and Taylor. Dear brother of Mary Stevens, Helen Varga and John Varga. John grew up in Hamilton in the height of the great depression and learned how to be resourceful. His father passed when John was only 5 years old and as a result he assumed a lot of responsibility at an early age. He attended Cathedral High School where he was a student athlete, playing football, basketball, water polo and rowing. As a player with the Hamilton Tiger-Cat Juniors, he participated in winning the Canadian Junior Football Championship in 1950 and 1951. Following his own football days he remained a Tiger-Cat fan and followed the team closely. John worked 43 years at Bell Canada and Bell Canada International where he held senior positions in construction, contracts, auditing and as a consultant to the Trinidad and Tobago government owned telephone company. In his free time he enjoyed gardening, golf and fishing. John will be deeply missed by his friends and family. A special thank you to the staff at the Brant Centre for their loving care.

A memorial gathering will be held at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 from 6-9pm. For those who wish, donations in memory of John can be made to a charity of choice.
