Obituary for John Ignatius Blake

Passed away peacefully at the Hamilton General Hospital on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 in his 88th year. Predeceased by his beloved wife Patricia Blake (nee Wallace). Predeceased by his infant son Gary (1958). Loved father of Diane Blake, John Blake (Laurie), Arlene Blake-Brown (Alan), David Blake (Dianna), Joanne Boeck (Wolfgang), Gerald Blake (Rachel) and Linda Rendall (Tom). Cherished grandfather of 17 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Beloved brother of Larry Blake (Gail) and brother-in-law of George Wallace. Predeceased by his siblings Paul Blake (Joyce), Mary Fortier (John), Richard Blake (survived by Catharine) and brother-in-law Stan Wallace. Throughout his 60 years in Grimsby, John was a volunteer of many local associations and a member of the The Grimsby Homebuilding Co-Operative. He rowed in the Masters World Championships in 1989. Special thanks to the staff of the Hamilton General Hospital for their dedication, care and compassion. Many thanks to Dr. Donaghy for a lifetime of care. As per John’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no visitation. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 135 Livingston Avenue, Grimsby, on Friday, February 16th at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Heart and Stroke Foundation are welcomed.
