Obituary for Mina Gene "Gene" Wright (Delany)

Mina Gene "Gene" Wright (Delany)
Passed peacefully surrounded by family in Burlington on January 27, 2018 at the age of 93. Predeceased by her husband Dr. Alan Russell Wright. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Terry (Glynis), Sheilagh and Kevin; her grandchildren William, Caitlin, Alexander and Kathleen and; her great-grandchildren Liam and Reagan.
Born in Swift Current Saskatchewan, Gene spent her early years in Montreal PQ before moving to Oakville ON where she attended Linbrook Public School and graduated from Oakville Trafalgar High School. Gene was always a very caring, supportive and highly effective caregiver beginning her career as a registered nurse after graduating from the Hamilton General Hospital School of Nursing in 1946. She met her future husband at the Hamilton General and then went on to marry and raise a family while continuing to use her nursing skills to provide wonderful care to her family, friends and others throughout her life. Gene was a loyal Ti-Cat fan and an avid gardener who created beautiful floral vistas for all to enjoy at the family home on “Wright’s Mountain”. She will be remembered as Past President of the Canadian Women’s Club of Hamilton by her fellow members. A sincere thank you to all the Cama Woodlands staff for making a “home” for Gene over the past four years.
Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hamilton General Hospital would be greatly appreciated by the family. A celebration of Gene’s life will be held at the Lasalle Park Pavilion, 50 North Shore Boulevard, Burlington in the Bayshore Room on Sunday, February 11, 2018 between 1:30 PM and 4:30 PM.
“We will see you on the other side of the stars”
