Condolence: My deepest condolences to Joan and the family, may your memories give you peace and comfort.
I have been blessed to know Lou, my dear friend and mentor. I will miss our conversations and especially his humour and jokes especially our constant battles over which team was better, Montreal Canadians or the Toronto Maple Leafs.
He will forever remain in my heart.
Rest in peace my friend.

Condolence: Joan

I wanted to express my deepest sympathies to you and the family for your terrible loss. If memory serves me I don’t believe you and I have ever met even though Lou has been part of the WSI family for over 20 years. I personally have so many fond memories of my time with Lou. Whether it was in the office or out on my boat or just the banter back and forth in emails. One minute we could be talking, business then politics or my travels around the world in the early days of WSI and then eventually we’d get back to some story about Swartz’s, Gibby’s,, Moisha’s or Montreal in general. There was no greater pleasure then seeing his eyes light up when I brought back some Fairmont bagels or chunk of Swartz’s meat for him to enjoy.

Dan and I went to visit him last Thursday and we sat there and both held his hand and you could tell he didn’t want to let go. Even though he was unable to speak I believe he knew we were there. Dan and I just more or less talked about Lou stories and things we had all done together and just shared some wonderful memories. But the one thing that Dan had said while we were there was something I will never forget and will always try to embrace in my own life. In fact Dan had said the same thing, that he needs to be more like Lou in this special way. “ the one thing about Lou that was so special about him was the fact the he embraced life, he was excited about everything, he was like a kid in the candy shop and whatever you wanted to talk about or story you would share you would see his entire being light up with enthusiasm”. This is a life lesson that I will try and embrace and I truly thank Lou for this gift as I do for his gift of friendship and guidance over the years.

As we left that evening and said good-bye you could see a small tear of appreciation form in the corner of his eye. Lou was a great friend, guiding light and a wonderful kind spirit. He was absolutely a pure and simple joy to be around. He will be sadly missed.

Again my deepest sympathies to you and the family for your loss.

Warm Regards

Condolence: I knew and worked together with Lou for quite a few years, and can say without hesitation that Lou was a real gentleman, a good listener whenever I needed one, and someone who had become a great friend, both at work and personally. We shared a passion for photography and often talked about the latest and greatest techniques and equipment. Lively political discussions were also part of the mix.He was an inspiration to me and I will certainly miss him! My condolences to his family.

Condolence: Since 2007, I have had the joy and privilege of being an email buddy of my dear Cousin Lou, a fabulously intelligent and equally charming individual. I will forever cherish those memories. In his passing, as in life, I remain, his dedicated Cousin Bobby.
Loved by many, he will never be forgotten. May his soul rest in peace.
