Suddenly at Hamilton General Hospital, on January 9, 2018 at the age of 70. Beloved husband of Mari for 46 years. Ron is survived by his sisters; Marlyn Blair (Ian), Wilma Duncan (John), Valerie Kirkwood, Pamela Kirkwood (John). He will be missed by his nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and god children.

Ron's engineering career spanned over 50 years, with the latter 33 spent at Dofasco as senior cranes and lifting equipment specialist.

Many may remember him from the Canadian Masters at Heron Point, the Canadian Open at Hamilton Golf and Country Club, coaching ladies’ volleyball, mentoring junior achievement programs or as volunteer, greeter, starter and marshal at Hidden Lake Golf Club and Dragon’s Fire Golf Club. No matter the situation or circumstance, he could make you laugh and always will!
Many thanks to the paramedic and trauma teams at Hamilton General Hospital who tried so hard to save him.

Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Saturday, January 20, 2018 starting at noon until the time of a Celebration of Life at 1 p.m. in the Chapel. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, donations to the SPCA or the Salvation Army would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
