Obituary for Phyllis Marie Ariss (Merrithew)

Phyllis Marie Ariss (Merrithew)
Ariss, Phyllis Marie, 84,

Passed away peacefully at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital on December 27, 2017, surrounded by her family.
She was born June 1, 1933 in Woodstock, New Brunswick, one of four children to Pearl and John Merrithew.
She became a registered nurse, having trained at the Hotel Dieu Hospital in Kingston, Ontario, and practiced nursing, mainly at Trillium Health Centre in Mississauga, for over thirty years.
Phyllis was pre-deceased by her husband, John Russell Ariss (1931 - 1998).
Phyllis is survived by her children, John Michael (Lee), Brian Allen (Kathy), Catherine Grace (Peter), and her eight grandchildren, Rebecca, Danielle, Olivia (David), Jacqueline, Meaghan, Courtenay, Kaitlin and Taylor.
Phyllis loved to cook, bake and entertain and, among other skills, she could play quite the game of cribbage. In her quiet time she was an avid reader.
Right to the end, Phyllis remained in good spirits and as sharp as a tack, sharing distant memories with great fondness.
A reception celebrating Phyllis Ariss' life will take place at Paradiso Restaurant, 2041 Pine Street, Burlington, Ontario on January 5, 2018 from 2 - 5 PM. In keeping with her wishes, Phyllis' remains will be buried with her late husband's at Cataraqui Cemetery in Kingston at a later date this coming spring, whereupon a memorial service will be held in her honor.
