Obituary for Patricia Lynn Connell (Stewart)

Patricia Lynn Connell (Stewart)
Connell, Patricia Lynn (nee Stewart)

Passed away at Oakville Trafalgar Hospital on Saturday, December 23, 2017 in her 74th year. Beloved wife of Jim Connell for 51 years. Loving mother of Kerri Smith and her husband Jason, and Grant Connell and his wife Stephanie. Loving sister-in-law to Nancy and Rick. Proud grandmother of Sarah, James, Aidan and Kiera who were her motivation in kicking cancer for over seven years so she could watch them grow up and build memories with them. She could be seen as the cheering grandmother at every hockey, soccer, basketball, volleyball, and baseball game and every school play or recital.

Pat was a nurse by trade and to her last day was always more worried about the wellbeing of others before herself. A mother to more than just her children and a dear friend to many, Pat inspired others by taking people under her wing without a second thought. Her ability to easily speak to others allowed her to make lifelong friends everywhere she went. She loved nothing better than shopping, whether to decorate her house, for clothes or going on a trip. She lived life to the fullest and loved to explore, having traveled to over 60 countries, as well as living abroad in both the Middle East and Brazil. She loved food and wine and getting together with friends and family at every opportunity. She lived every day to its fullest and had no regrets.

Special thanks to Dr. Amir, nurse Nancy and the staff at Princess Margaret Hospital. With their help we got seven more years with Pat and she got to know her grandkids, spend more time with family and friends, meet new people, travel and shop. For that we are forever grateful.

As per Pat’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place on January 6th starting at 1:00 pm. at St. Volodymyr Cultural Centre, 1280 Dundas Street West, Oakville, ON. For those who wish, donations in memory of Pat can be made to the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation.
