STRATHDEE, Barry Anderson, P. Eng.
Surrounded by the love of his family, Barry passed away peacefully on Friday, December 15, 2017. He leaves his beloved wife Nadia (nee Colody), of 55 years and their two loved children, Andrea and Paul. He was the cherished Dido of Alexandra and Emily. Dear Brother of Mavis Sylvain (Andre) and the late Myrtle (Allan Hough). Sadly missed by several nieces and a nephew.
Barry was born in Toronto on November 4, 1932. After graduating from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Barry continued his studies earning his Masters degree and PhD. He had a successful career in research and development in the steel industry. Upon retirement, he accepted positions as adjunct professor at both McMaster and the U of T. A 50-year active member of the Hamilton/Burlington YMCA, he also enjoyed farming, horses (dressage) and curling. Barry’s friendly nature earned him the respect of friends and colleagues.
Visitation will be held at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stoplight north of QEW), BURLINGTON, 905-632-3333 on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. with Panachyda at 7:30p.m. Funeral Service will be held at All Saints Chapel at the St. Volodymyr Cultural Centre, 1280 Dundas Street West, Oakville on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. with internment taking place at the adjacent cemetery. A reception will follow at the Cultural Centre. If desired, donations to St. Vladimir Institute, 620 Spadina Ave, Toronto, ON, M5S 2H4 or a charity of your choice would be sincerely appreciated by the family
