Obituary for Cornelis "Casey" Van Staalduinen

Cornelis "Casey" Van Staalduinen

Van STAALDUINEN, Cornelis "Casey"

Peacefully into the arms of his Lord, passed away at The Hamilton General Hospital on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at the age of 94. Beloved husband of the late Patricia (nee Michielsen). Also predeceased by his second wife the late Tina (prev. Raven) (nee Van Ginkel). Loving and devoted father of Helen Hines (Joseph) and Corina Rose (Daniel). Cherished grandpa of Damon, Lori Prince (Kyle) and the late Samuel, and great-grandpa of Landon and Theo. Predeceased by brothers Leendert, Adrian “Ed” (Hilde Praamsma) and sister Janny Verhoeven. Casey will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Casey emigrated from Holland to Canada in 1948. He married Patricia in 1952, and while still working full time at Stelco in Hamilton, together with Mom they established their greenhouse business. In 1955 he left the steel mill in order to make growing a full time occupation and led to the opening of Casey’s Greenhouses. They fulfilled their dream of owning and operating a successful business producing quality plants sold both locally and nationwide. His success is accredited to three key personal values he mentioned often; be passionate about what you do, be innovative, and hard work. Special thank you to Home Sweet Home Care for Seniors, for all of their kind care and compassion. The family is also appreciative of the excellent care provided by the doctors, nurses and support staff at Alexander Place in Waterdown. Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 485 Brant Street, (one block north of City Hall), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Thursday, November 30, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. A Private Family Funeral Service and Interment will be held at a later date. For those who wish, donations in memory of Casey to the Alzheimer Society would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
