MEMORIAL CELEBRATION
THE GABLES Grand Bend
THURSDAY JULY 5, 2018 3-6 p.m.
Commemorating a feisty caring soul who worked for many happy summers there!

Passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends at St. Joseph's Hospital in Hamilton on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at the age of 56. Cherished daughter of the late Norman and Modena (nee Munro). Dear sister to Joan and loving sister- in- law to Chris Birkett. She will be greatly missed by her pride and joy Shadow and her many friends and colleagues. After graduating from BCHS, Dorothy went on to complete the Fashion Arts program at Sheridan College where she used her expertise for many years as a swimsuit designer and marketing expert at Sunskins Studio in Toronto. She then became district manager for Bikini Bay and Bikini Village. Dorothy enjoyed her time as a bartender at The Gables in Grand Bend and at Good Tyme Charlies in Burlington and inspired many as a fitness instructor as she managed at Good Life Fitness and at the Gym Nautilus in Oakville. As an animal lover and because of her new found passion volunteering for the Toronto Animal Services and the Burlington Humane Society, she returned to Sheridan in 2007 to complete programs in Business Management and Animal Care. She ran her second successful business "At Leash You Have Us" for many years caring for and training four legged friends. She loved and spent many summers in Grand Bend enjoying the beach and watching the sunsets with her friends and family. Her loyal friendship and generosity will be missed by many especially by her twin Joan. Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 485 Brant Street, (one block north of City Hall), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Friday, November 24, 2017 from 12:00 pm followed by a Funeral Service at 1:00 pm with reception to follow. A memorial celebration will be held in Grand Bend in the summer. For those who wish, donations in memory of Dorothy may be made to the Burlington Humane Society.
