Obituary for Dino Mario ""Deno"" Basilio

Dino Mario ""Deno"" Basilio
Basilio, Dino (Deno) Mario
June 6, 1941 – November 19, 2017
It is with a heavy hearts and deep sorrow we, his family, must announce our dearly loved Deno was called home to be with our Lord and his heavenly angels on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at the age of 76. He has been reunited with his precious niece Darlene, much loved parents Santa (Rossi) and Attanasio (Tony), sister Lena, brothers Domenic (Nick) and Olvido (Lou), brothers-in-law John Fitzpatrick, James Gooderham, Claude Dumont and his faithful friends and companions Peter and Bernie- his dogs and Buddy his cat.
Deno is survived by his brother Ron, sisters Jose Dumont, Ida Fitzpatrick, Gina (John) Seca, Ann Gooderham and by his sisters-in-law Verda Basilio, Jaquie Basilio and 12 nieces and nephews and 11 great nieces and nephews and great great niece and nephew. Deno will be sadly missed by his cats Max, Plum and Odin and dog Coco, as well as his extended family and friends.
Deno was a beloved son, endeared brother, cherished uncle, adored great uncle, and proud great-great uncle. He was “Dad” to his niece Ann “Beth”, and to his dogs and cats. Deno was a special, gentle, loving, kind soul who was dedicated to his family. He enjoyed cooking, music, singing, dancing, old movies and making people laugh. His favourite season was Christmas; he was our Christmas Elf, affectionately known as Elfy. He would dress up in his elf suit on Hallowe’en. He found relaxation in gardening and nature. He was born with a green thumb. He was an avid collector of antiques, model vintage cars and stuffed toys, especially his puppies Buddy and Bell; he referred to as his babies and who kept him company. His passion was chocolate but most of all he loved children and animals.
We would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Joseph Brant Hospital in the ER and on floors 4,5,6 for their kindness and wonderful care during his stay. He made a lot of friends while there. We would like to also thank his doctors; Dr. P. Killorn, Dr. B. Yamamoto and Dr. Joe Pontoriero for their gentle exceptional care and a special thank you to nurse Megan on the 6th floor South (200’s) for being with him and hold his hand and singing to him.
We would also like to thank Smith’s Funeral Home for their guidance and comfort through our most heartbreaking and saddest day.
“Elfy”; Santa’s #1 Elf has officially retired. He will always be treasured in our hearts forever. Rest in Peace.
