Condolences

Condolence From: Carla Hanna
Condolence: Dearest Ros and family
Sending you sincerest condolences.
I am so sorry we were unable to attend the Celebration of LIfe for Bill; and what a wonderful life to celebrate it was! . Bill was an amazing father, grandfather and of course husband. While we only met a handful of times, I felt like I knew him better because of our chats at work about his writing, family time, your travel adventures and weekend day trips.
Dale still recounts the story about the time at the LCBO when Bill ended up with an extra bottle of wine in his bag!
Bill is gone but not forgotten. May he rest in peace.
With sympathy,
Carla and Dale

Condolence: Dear Roz, Katie and James, I too would like to share my sincere condolences. From my days at Southam working with Roz on Canadian Consulting Engineer and later learning you were married to Bill, we had a double connection. I knew Bill from our days in B2B publishing at various magazines and as volunteers with industry associations. Jorge and I were saddened to hear of Bill's passing. He will always be remembered for his gentle nature and smiles.

Condolence: There are no words. Sending love, hugs and condolences to you and your family. Ros, even though I did not know Bill well you brought Bill to life for me through the stories of your adventures. He sounded like a wonderful life partner and father. Thank you for that.

Condolence: Bill was a very early member of PEMAC, the Plant Engineering and Maintenance Association of Canada, and from the start of our organization to very recent times he offered encouragement, assistance and promotion of our volunteer's efforts. That kind of support is critical and not always affordable to a non-profit enterprise and has been very much appreciated.

On behalf of the founders and the Board of Directors PEMAC I would like to express sincere condolences to Bill's friends, family and coworkers.

Condolence: I was so very sorry to hear of Bill's passing. I worked part-time for him for around 30 years, starting with PC World Canada way back when, then with MRO until a couple of years ago. He was the most considerate, kind and gracious boss, always accommodating my family's busy schedule and many changing circumstances over the years. My heartfelt condolences to Ros, Katie and James.

Condolence: Bill made a wonderful addition to both my working and my social life!
I met Bill about 30 years ago when the technical service company which I was employed with at that time, decided to begin a marketing program involving technical written submissions to related magazines. As Service Manager, I was designated with the role of submitting articles, whereby I had my first encounter with the smiling and welcoming face of Bill!
Over the years of submitting 35 articles, Bill continued to nurture my literary skills, technical advice and submissions although the writing was eventually delegated to a ‘ghost’ writer based on interviews with me.
We ‘followed’ Bill during publisher transitions with MRO magazine. As a fellow car nut, I was always intrigued by his vehicle testing ‘career’ and discussed his vehicular opinions and articles on many occasions. In later years we shared many common Mercedes Benz woes, his with his beloved SL Class convertible and me with a C230.
During my single unemployed portion in my career, Bill came to the rescue and assisted me in obtaining a job with another of his techie contacts, who had contributed to a competing publication as well as to Bill’s in later years.
My relationship with Bill, and some of his family, took on a new life when I semi-retired and relocated to Oakville. In numerous discussion with Bill, I had forgotten that he lived in Oakville and subsequently found that he lived down the same street, two blocks away!
This proximity led to a whole new relationship with Bill. On his way to/from the cleaners or LCBO, he stopped by in his convertible while Charlotte or I were outside doing garden work, or called me up to test drive a Porsche with him or invited us to share some wine and family stories with Ros and himself. When they downsized, we visited them in their sky high condo and regaled that one of the few things he did not miss was the grass problem in his front yard back in Oakville. I told him a few weeks ago that we had inherited his lawn grubs which allowed for a great chuckle on his behalf.
In his year long struggle, he continued to be in a kind, considerate and happy demeanour to me on visits during his two stays at Carpenter house and his brief stay at his home in between.
Charlotte and I will forever be grateful to him for his considerate, kind, thoughtful, influential and gentle nature. We will miss his blue-eyed smiles!
May you, Bill, now rest in peace and may you, Ros and family, be comforted in the knowledge that he contributed much to joy in the lives of others, as well as to you, his family. May God comfort you all in your grief and loss.

Condolence: Very sorry to hear about Bill's passing and my condolences to his family. I've known and worked with Bill for about 10 years when I was in the agency business. He was a class act, always wore a warm smile and would go out of his way to help you out if he could. He will be fondly remembered and missed.
