DEAN, Robert Charles "Bob" (1935-2017)

Bob Dean passed with peace and grace at Joseph Brant Hospital on Monday, November 13, 2017 at the age of 82. Predeceased by his wife Colleen Dean (née Ford) and infant son Edward,Bob is survived by his beloved partner of 18 years - and second true love - Joan Brokenshire; loving children Rob (Tamara), Kathy (Tom) Diletti, and Pat (Amanda Wesson); dear stepchildren Lynn (Darin) Barton, Susan Brokenshire, Neil (Keli) Brokenshire, and Diane Brokenshire (Tim Adams); and a legion of adoring grandchildren, step grandchildren, and step great grandchildren.

An active member of his community, Bob dedicated years of his life to various youth organizations and service clubs in Hamilton and Burlington including the Sea Cadets, Army Cadets, and Burlington Lions Club. As a member of the Burlington Lions Club for more than 17 years, Bob served as president from 2006-2007 and became a Melvin Jones Fellow in 2009.

Teased for his pearly-white legs, impossibly good hair, and overly-detailed driving directions, Bob was also known for his generous spirit, playful nature, and unwavering commitment to his family, friends, and community.

Special appreciation to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Joseph Brant Hospital for their loving care. Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333) on Friday, November 17, 2017 from 4-8 pm. A Service of Remembrance will be celebrated at the funeral home on Saturday, November 18 at 10:00 am followed directly by interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Burlington. Reception details to follow. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to Community Living Burlington (www.clburlington.ca).
