Obituary for Isabella Penman (Lennox)

Isabella Jackson Malcolm Lennox Penman was born on May 23rd, 1936 in Seafield Hospital Ayr Scotland, to Robert and Margaret Lennox. She was the youngest of three after older brothers Dick and John. Her father Robert passed when she was young, so her mother remarried James Orr-Gunion. This union brought three younger siblings Margaret, Andrew, and Harriet. To support her working mother, Isa stepped into the role of matriarch and aided in raising her younger siblings. While on vacation with her cousin in Rothesay on the Isle of Bute she met her husband David.

David came to Canada in the fall of 1964 followed by Isa and their sons in the spring of 1965. In 1966 Isa started work at Grand Union first as a cashier, then a bookkeeper. She progressed into the head office and finished her career as an HR Manager, retiring from A&P in 1997.

David and Isa were blessed with two sons Stuart (Ruth) and Mark (Heather), five grandchildren Megan (David), Matthew (Cait), Lauren (Kesa), Tara Lynn (Dustin), John Mark and three great grand children Alexander, Olivia, and Hazel. The family gathered in January to celebrate David and Isa’s 60th wedding anniversary.

Isa was a family oriented woman, generous in love and a living example of faith. She passionately spent her summers supporting the youth ministries Mark was involved in at Camp Mini-Yo-We and Camp Kakeka. Her previous victory over cancer gave her a special insight into her volunteer work at Joseph Brant hospital where she had the opportunity brighten many weary spirits. She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends.
