Obituary for Dr. Colin LeRoy Wellum (D.C.)

Dr. Colin LeRoy  Wellum (D.C.)
Colin was taken home to be with his Lord at Cama Woodlands Nursing Home in Burlington, in the early morning hours on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at the age of 87. Dr. Wellum graduated from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto in 1955. He was the founder of the Wellum Chiropractic Clinic, and practiced in Burlington for 43 years, from 1955-1998. Dr. Wellum was also a charter member of Trinity Baptist Church in Burlington, where he has been involved since 1972.

He was the faithful and loving husband of Joan Connell Wellum (nee Mills) to whom he was happily married for 63 years. Cherished father of Rev. Kirk Wellum (Debbie) of Ancaster, Dr. Colin Wellum Jr. (Margaret) of Burlington, Jonathan Wellum (Heidi) of Campbellville, Dr. Stephen Wellum (Karen) of Louisville, Kentucky, and the late Christina Wellum. Proud grandfather of Caleb (Stephanie Corazza), Rebecca Willison (Brian), Kristen Schofield (Jeremy), Colin 3rd (Kahla), Brittany Thompson (Jonathan), Joel (Stephanie), Seth, Justin, Johanna, Joshua, Javan, Jonathan Jr., David, Janae, Jessica, Christina, and step-grandfather of Douglas Fahey (Brittany Swainsbury) and James Robinson (Julia Dempsey). He will also be fondly remembered by his 7 great-grandchildren. Dear brother of the late George Wellum (late Rosi), Mary Anne Howden, and the late Bruce Wellum (Mary). He will also be missed by the Mills family, other extended family, many friends, and chiropractic colleagues.

Visitation will be held at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stoplight north of QEW), BURLINGTON, 905-632-3333, on Thursday, October 19, 2017 from 3-5pm and 7-9pm, where a Service of Remembrance will be held in the Chapel on Friday, October 20, 2017 at 1:00pm. Reception to follow the Service at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME. Private Family Interment to be held at Park Lawn Cemetery in Toronto.

In lieu of flowers, and as an expression of sympathy, donations in Dr. Wellum’s memory to The Gideons International, an organization that he has been an enthusiastic member of since 1960, would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
