Condolences

Condolence From: Cathy Hall
Condolence: My deepest condolences to Rosemary’s family… I knew Rosemary through the RASC, the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada. I can’t remember the exact year I met her. I joined the RASC in 1970 as a young girl, as an Ottawa member. I remember enjoying Vermont skies with Rosemary at the ‘Stellafane’ telescope makers’ convention down in Springfield, Vermont in the 1970’s. I lived in the Toronto area from 1977 to 1992, and got to know her better then. There were very few women in the society in the early years – and ‘the Marys’ had a profound influence on me – Rosemary, Mary Grey, and Mary Henderson. I remember Rosemary from various GA’s, ‘General Assemblies’ that the society held across Canada – and helped patch her up with first aid on one of the trips. At the Calgary GA in 1992, we had a wonderful time at the Buffalo Jump and the Tyrell dinosaur museum. Rosemary loved travel, and would tell me about her trips around the globe, and ‘down under’. When I moved back to Ottawa in 1992, we kept in touch by notes in our Christmas cards… She was a kind, adventurous lady who always had time for people. She will be dearly missed…
