To my Canadian Mother

With warmth and gratitude, I look back on the time I spent with Helene In Kapuskasing back in the 70s. I never forget how kind Helene was to me. I used to spend time with the family Malenfant on Sundays. We cooked French and Finnish food together with a Canadian twist of course. It was our shared passion. Soft clssical music was playing in the backround while we were cooking. This kind of  music makes me feel like it,s Sunday, Helene used to say. I,ve picked up the same habit an sometimes when I hear a violin conserto it reminds me of Helene.

I was so lucky to get to travel with the Malenfant family. Our trip to Rocky Mountains across the prairie was an unfogettable experience, as was the trip to New York the following year. Helene was the soul of these trips - she was alvays calm and cordial - but kept us going.

Helene was so important to me. I called her my Canadian mother and she called me her Finnish girl.

Please accept my deepest condolence Jeanne, Sylvie and Jackie. My thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time.
