VENTRESCA, Maria Filippa (1937-2017)

Born in Italy of the late Cosimo and Mariannina Di Iorio, sadly we announce the passing at Macassa Lodge, Hamilton on Friday, September 1, 2017 at the age of 80. Beloved wife of Joseph for 53 years. Loving mother of Panfilo "Ben" (Chris) Ventresca, Angela (Michael)Firetto, and Fernando (Billie) Ventresca. Will be greatly missed by her grandchildren; Dominic, Vince, Gabriella, Roberto, Victoria, Joseph, and Stevie. Dear sister- in -law to Anna Di Iorio, Emma Di Iorio, and Maria (Michele) Fortunato. Will be missed by her many nieces and nephews of Canada, Italy and USA. Predeceased by her parents, her brothers; the late Egidio and the late Paolo Di Iorio, her in-laws; late Venna (late Elio) Volpe, late Ailanda (late Domenico) Foglietta, late Ilde (late Mario) Colilli, late Mario (late Italia) Ventresca, and late Giannina (late Francesco) Imperatore. As a member of the Chore Abruzzese, Maria will always be known for her love of music and beautiful voice. A special thank you to all the staff at Macassa Lodge for all of their compassionate care. Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 454 Highway #8 (east of Millen Road) STONEY CREEK (905-664-4222) on Monday, September 4, 2017 from 3-9 p.m. Prayer Vigil at 8:30 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church, 304 Highway #8, Stoney Creek on Tuesday at 10:00 am. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery . If desired, memorial contributions to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to a charity of your choice would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
