Obituary for Albert Mario Marrone

It is with profound sadness that we announce the loss of an extraordinary man, Albert Mario Marrone, on August 30, 2017, surrounded by those he loved and cherished. He will be forever missed by his cherished wife of almost 50 years, his “one and only”, Lea (nee DiBattista). He was a devoted and adoring dad to Debora (Warren) Reynolds and Amanda (Josh) Boettger, and a proud, fun-loving Nonno to Brenden, Tyson, Lukas, Simona and Tristan. He was the fourth child of Francesco and Sabina Marrone and a dear brother and brother-in-law to Margherita (Giovanni) Marcantonio, Antonietta (Agostino) Pacifici, Domenic Marrone, Angela Fracassi-Lescard, Harry (Laurie) Marrone, Toni Marrone and Roger (Eveline) DiBattista. He is predeceased by his brothers, Antonio, Aurelio and Nino Marrone. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Born on October 1, 1943 in Limosano, Italy, Albert came to Canada and worked his whole life to give his family the best life possible. He was a teacher of the HWCDSB, and after “retiring” he was the proud developer and owner of Glover Golf Driving Range, and served in local politics as both City Counsellor and Deputy Mayor of Stoney Creek. But above all, Albert remained a humble and faithful servant of God. He was an active parishioner of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish and a proud member of the Knights of Columbus and IHM choir. He battled cancer for 12 years, against all odds, never wavering in his trust in God’s plan for him. He used his illness to inspire others, leading by example of how to survive life’s obstacles with grace and steadfast faith in God. He was admired and loved by many and had a generous heart, never hesitating to put the needs of others before his own. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him. Thank you to oncologists Drs. Phillips, Lelievre, Mukerjee, and Hotte and all the nursing, administrative, and volunteer staff at both Joseph Brant and Juravinski Cancer Centers for their dedicated support over the years. Most recently, thank you to the nurses on 3C Oncology Floor at Juravniski and especially Dr. Lisa Gillis, for providing outstanding and compassionate care for Albert in his final days. A special thanks to Father Bill Trusz for his loving spiritual guidance for our family during these difficult times. Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 454 Highway #8 (east of Millen Road) STONEY CREEK (905-664-4222) on Friday, September 1, 2017 from 2-5 and 6-9 p.m. with Vigil Prayers at 8:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, 934 Highway #8, Stoney Creek on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 10 a.m. Entombment to follow at Our Lady of the Angels Cemetery, 681 Mud Street East, Stoney Creek. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish Building Fund would be sincerely appreciated by the family. Words cannot express the sorrow we feel for the loss of such an amazing man, but we have joy in our hearts knowing he is home with his Lord in heaven. We love you.

“Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share in your master’s happiness” -Matthew 25:23
