Peacefully surrounded by the love of his family, at his home in Burlington on Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at the age of 82. Predeceased by his loving wife, Margaret who he shared 53 wonderful years with. Loving and devoted father of Paula Zinken (Rhett) of Kitchener, Gail Wright of Oakville, and Rob Mullett and his wife Lisa of Burlington. Adored Papa of Craig (Lindsay) Zinken, Jordan (Jamie) Zinken, Kourtnie (Jason) Rogers, Linda and Adam Wright, and Liam and Drew Mullett. Proud Great Papa of Colton and Carter Duguay and Rylen Zinken. Predeceased by his grandson Douglas, brother David, and sisters Ruby and Lucy. He was loved and will be sadly missed by his family, the entire Paul family, friends, and neighbours. He was a man of integrity, a true gentleman and was loved by all who knew him.
At the age of 15 Clare and his family moved from St. John’s Newfoundland to Port Colborne ON. There he met the love of his life and started his career with the FW Woolworth Co. Ltd. In his 42 year career with Woolworth’s he worked his way from stock boy and retired as Vice President. He travelled across Canada to over 120 cities where he truly appreciated our country and its people.
Clare was an avid curler at the Burlington Golf and Country Club, playing golf with the Silver Sliders, and enjoyed the fellowship of Probus. Heartfelt thanks to, Dr. Cynthia Blair, Joel, Annie, Cara, and Heather Mackey of Wellington United for their care and compassion. Family will receive friends at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333) on Sunday July 16th 2017 from 3 – 7 pm. A Celebration of Life will be held at Wellington Square United Church, 2121 Caroline Street, Burlington on Monday July 17, 2017 at 11:00 am. Reception to follow at the church. Donations can be made in memory of Clare to The Joseph Brant Hospital Foundation or the Salvation Army or the Wellington Square United Church. www.smithsfh.com
