Obituary for Michael Moes

MOES, Michael
It is with a heavy heart that we announce Michael’s passing at Joseph Brant Hospital, Burlington on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at the age of 79. Beloved husband for 55 years of Susan (nee Peacock) Moes. Dearly loved father of Kathryn Connell (Thomas) and Michael Moes (Cindy). Cherished grandfather to Ethan and Adam Moes and Alexandra and Peter Connell of Massachusetts. Predeceased by his parents, Gerry and Cecilia Moes and sister Monica Davidson (Dr. H.A Davidson) of Burlington. An uncle to Sandra Peters (Bill), Ian and Keith Davidson (Linda), Lisa and Susan Niedermayr.
A life-long resident of Aldershot in Burlington, Mike achieved success in all aspects of his life. As an avid multi-sport athlete he took particular pride as one of the early members of the Burlington Oldtimers Hockey Club in 1972, playing into his early seventies. In business he retired from RBC as Vice President with RT Investment Counsel only to spend another decade with TD Asset Management doing work he loved to do. His greatest role and success was as a highly devoted family man. He was blessed with many great friends and colleagues and a family who cherished and admired him greatly. Mike attended Hillfield College in Hamilton, McMaster and Carlton Universities.
Private Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Gathering will be held at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 485 Brant Street, (one block north of City Hall), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Thursday, July 13, 2017 from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Michael to The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, Burlington Humane Society or charity of your choice, will be sincerely appreciated by the family.
