Obituary for Eleanor May Makepeace (Stone)

Eleanor May Makepeace (Stone)
Makepeace, Eleanor May (nee Stone)

On July 3, 2017 at 90 years of age, at Wentworth Lodge in Dundas, Ontario. Beloved wife of Raymond Makepeace, who predeceased her in 2009. Beloved mother of Nancy Makepeace (Jaro Kratina) and Barbara Makepeace, and loving Nana to Michael Comeau (Amy Groen) and Daniel Comeau. Predeceased by her brother George Stone and sister Alice Roberts. Survived by her sister Erma Smith, her brother Earl Stone, and a large extended family in the US and Canada.
Eleanor's sunny disposition and positive attitude won her many life-long friends from her school years in Saint John NB, and from her working and retirement years in Hamilton, Burlington, Ancaster and Dundas, as well as friends she met through the Pilot Club, the Lady Hamilton Club, the Burlington Navy Club, the Red Hats, the Aldershot pool, and the United Church.
Amongst the many people who cared for Eleanor in her final years, we would like to thank Dr. Steven Hadcock, Dr. James A. Martin, Dr. Emma Mazurek and Dr. Barb Strang. Thanks also to the staff at Amica at Dundas, which was Eleanor's beloved home for five years, and the staff at Wentworth Lodge, who took wonderful care of her during her last, difficult, months. A heartfelt thanks to Lindsay Frankiewicz, whose personal care for Eleanor over many years went beyond the call of duty, and to Reverend Rick Spies and the Pastoral Care Team at St. Paul’s United Church in Dundas, whose spiritual support meant a great deal to Eleanor and our family.
Visitation at St. Paul's United Church, 29 Park Street West, Dundas, on Friday, July 7, 2017 from 10 am until time of Funeral Service at 11 am. A reception will follow at the church immediately after the service. Interment at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Hamilton. Donations may be made to St. Paul's United Church. (Arrangements entrusted to SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, BURLINGTON 905-632-3333.)
