Obituary for John Ogilvie Garner

GARNER, John Ogilvie 1928-2017

On June 26, 2017, in his 89th year, John Ogilvie Garner passed away at home. John was a loving man who held great affection and adoration for his wife Joyce Louise (nee Griffith), daughters Tanis Dal Zotto (Maurizio) and Dorice Garner (Greg Wood) and grand daughter Kamela Dal Zotto.

John was smart , quick witted, generous, polite and kind. He developed strong friendships throughout his life and enjoyed spending time with friends and family. Dinner parties (he was a great gourmet cook), opera, classical music, theatre, sports, bridge and traveling were all activities he passionately pursued and shared with family and friends. John was a member of the Roseland Club, men's Probus and Couples Bridge in Burlington, Ontario.

Born in British Columbia, he first began work in the mines. As an assayer and chemist his career took him to the Yukon, Yellowknife (where he met the love of his life, Joyce), Peace River, Edmonton, Amherstburg, Toledo, Hamilton and Oakville. His work on solvent extraction was published by Pergamon Press.

John will be greatly missed by family and friends. There will be no Funeral Service. Donations to Joseph Brant Hospital or Acclaim Health are appreciated. LHIN and its associated agencies provided palliative care with great compassion and tenderness in his final days for which the family will be forever grateful.

Rest in peace beloved Husband, Dad and Grandad. You are much loved, respected and cherished.
